The NEWS in our life

Over the last couple of months we have been experiencing a lot of new things in our life. We got a second vehicle about two months ago and I am in love with having a car to get around in when Micah is working or gone somewhere. We got this cute little Nissan Rogue! It rides great. We could not have got the car at a better time too. Not having a second vehicle was making it hard for me to find a job that would work for Micah and me to be able to share it.

I recently just got a job; it was a bit of a change for me at first to be working again (for those of you who didn't know I haven't been working for a while). I have been looking for a job for a few months now so I was grateful when I got the call. I am working at the Katmai Child Development Center on base. I feel so blessed to have been able to find a job and one that’s not fast food! I was a little nervous at first to be responsible for children but I am loving my job so far and it’s only been a couple of weeks.  I am working in the pre-toddler room; those kiddos are a lot of fun. They keep you busy too. I haven't been assigned an age group yet but I'm really hoping I'll get to stay with the little ones I'm in with now!  The Lord has blessed us so much over the past couple of months and I am so grateful!

After debating on whether or not I should cut my hair well…I did it! People were telling me to leave it and just as many were telling me to cut it so Micah decided for me.

As many of you know Micah was in Texas for a few weeks. It was a long three and a half weeks but we made it through. While Micah was away Buster and I got up close and personally with a MOOSE! I was taking Buster outside to do his business and all these dogs started barking at their windows. I looked up and there was a moose standing about 15 feet away from us. I had to drag Buster inside but that didn’t keep him from running from room to room barking and growling. Our little dog thinks he’s such a big beast.

I posted a few months ago about how I am working to lose weight. I am down ten pounds! I have only been able to count my calories due to an injuring with my ankle that is taking much longer to heal then it should. Dieting is not easy but it does pay off if you stick to it. Hang in there with, you can do it!

Happy June everybody:)

Time to find my inner strength!

I have always been a little chubby growing up and as the years went by the pounds started added up. Growing up I was always a little chubbier then most of my friends. As I got older I had moments when I really tried to do better, to start taking care of my body and losing the weight once and for all. There have been times where I have lost my goal and I kept it off for a little while and then I seemed to lose focus and it just all goes down hill from there. I have had a number of experiences being made fun of and called fat. No one should every have to feel like they aren't worth the life they deserve. A few months back I had a doctors appointment that really hit me. I left that appointment thinking stay as far away from food as possible! The doctor was a very rude old man who told patients (well at least one) that the problem with America is that we over eat. We should learn the tricks the Nazi's did. He told me that I needed to eat like the Nazi's feed the Jews,  I have never had anyone tell me something so horrible before in my life. It made me sick to my stomach! How dare he tell me that. He continue on about how the Nazi's really knew what there was to know about proper nutrition. I left my appointment in tears feeling so awful about my self and extra weight that I was carrying. I am overweight yes, but I am a human being. I have feelings and no one deserves to be treated like I was during that appointment.

So let us not listen to those who discourage us but let us find our strength in those who believe in us.

I have decided it is time once and for all to get rid of these unwanted pounds and to keep them off! I know I have a long way to go and I am hoping that with the support of my husband, family and friends that I will be able to become a better version of myself. I have 65 pounds to lose and this is the new begin to the rest of my life. I am ready to do what it takes to become healthier.

Happy March!

Last Wednesday Micah turned 22! He doesn't care too much about birthdays but keep trying to telling him its just another excuse for a celebration! We went to this nice Japanese restaurant called Benihana, it was fun experience. They cook your meal right there in front of you. It was a little awkward at first sitting at a table with three others couples but the couple sitting next to us were really friendly. They sang Happy Birthday to Micah in both english and japanese.

Dinner was  very filling but I made Micah promise me that he would eat a piece of cake on his birthday. We went home but filling a little full so we decided to share a piece of cake. We had a rather nice evening.

Its not the prettiest cake I've ever made but Buster sure did want to try and help me make it. I think he was interested in the chocolate and why I wouldn't let him eat it.

A little update on Buster: He started ringing his bell this week (we got him one of those training bells). He knows that if he rings that he gets to go outside. So sometimes that just means we take him out and let him play in the snow for a little bit. He is slowly starting to get used to strangers a little better. That doesn't mean he won't greet you at the door by jumping up on you though. He is getting bigger but he's just at that bigger puppy looking stage. We sure are glad to have added him to our little family.

Meet Buster

Meet our newest addition to our little family! This is Buster, he is about 5 months old. He is a sweet little guy when he wants to be but he sure does have a mind of his own sometimes. He makes our family feel more complete at the moment. We got him around Christmas and it has been interesting teaching him and seeing what he picks up on and what he still needs to learn. We're still working on house breaking him but we'll get there soon enough.

We had a good Christmas. This was our first real Christmas celebrating together, it was really nice. Alaska is treating us nicely. We love our ward! We have a lot of fun couples we get together with. Some of the girls invited me to book club so I'm excited to start really getting to know them.

Micah and I have started preparing to be sealed in the temple and I can't wait to be sealed to him for time and all eternity! He is the love of my life and there is no one else I'd rather be with. Last night we were trying to plan out the finally details for our trip to Ohio to be sealed and if its not one thing its another. Micah had a training that he thought he'd have to go to that would interfere with when we were trying to go to Ohio, but he was able to get out of that. And then last night I remember the temple has its schedule up online and we found out that the Columbus temple is closed the whole time we're planning to be in Ohio. It amazes me how on Sunday we were talking about how we need to make sure we don't let the things in life distractions get in the way of us making it to the temple. Man do I understand what they mean. Hopefully we'll be able to work this all out soon.

Busters not a big fan of the camera yet. Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Pictures from the road

As I have promised, here are the pictures of our trip from Colorado Springs Colorado to Anchorage Alaska. We had a lot of fun our road trip, we got to see some good friends and family along the way. It was worth it taking the extra time to make time for them. We are truly blessed for the wonderful people the Lord puts in our path. We had some people who were so kind to us on our journey. Our card got froze because the military forgot to mark it for travel and as Micah was calling to get the problem taken care of the lady behind him paid for our gas for the Uhaul! What a kind lady that was. Others were helpful with directions and telling us good places to stop at along the one. I am thankful for all that I have in my life and for the people I have met along the way.

We saw some gorgeous sunsets on our trip! Absolutely beautiful.

We had a lot of pretty mountains and trees to look at along our way.

This Valley was GORGEOUS, probably one of my favorite parts of our trip we call it "the Grand Canyon of Colorado"

Wind turbines, trees the many trees and a duck-taped van.
I couldn't stop laughing at this when I saw it.

We saw goats, deer, moose, elk, bison, and black bears, OH MY!

We had a fun road trip, we played travel games and listened to good                music and even enjoyed a book on the road together.

Oh the mountains out here are my favorite! I am already in love with them.

My poor sweet heart is exhausted, he drove us the whole 3,600 miles, and we finally crossed the boarder and we back in the united states.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello from Alaska!

Micah and I made it to Anchorage Alaska! We are very excited to be starting this new chapter in our life. We are currently enjoying the exciting job of finding a place to live. At first the hunt was going a little slow and we weren't having any luck finding places with a move-in date before the middle of October or beginning of November. Well after looking at a dozen or so places we finally think we found a place that will work for us! I am beyond excited to get out of this hotel and back into a place of my own. Anchorage seems to be a nice place so far. We haven't gotten to do much besides the apartment hunting. The mountains here are oh so pretty, I am in love with the scenery. Its been rainy the past few days, today was the first real nice weather we've had since we've been here.

Our road trip was a lot of fun, we made it all the way from Colorado to Utah to Idaho then through Canada and then finally to Alaska! Our trip went pretty smoothly we only had a few bumpy spots in our trip. We had a tire blow out in Canada but the uhaul company sent someone out and they fixed it in a matter of twenty minutes after we called. Once we got back into the states is where we started to run into some real problems, our check engine light came on and the nearest town that had anything opened was 90 miles into Alaska. Thankfully our uhaul made it that far, we stop and got dinner and when we got back into the truck to find a place to sleep for the night the truck took awhile to start and we barely made it into the parking lot of the motel. Micah called the uhaul company and they were supposed to have someone out to check it out and find the problem bright and early the next morning. We were 330 miles away from Anchorage and didn't get the truck fixed until around 5, so we lost a day of travel. Aside from our little problem in Tok we made good time. We got a lot of pretty pictures that I'll post when we really great settled in.

I look forward to the next ten days I get to spend with my sweetheart before he has to go back to work. We have so much to get done and I'll be glad when things start falling into place a little more. Take care everyone.
